I am a London-born qualified English teacher and have lived and taught in Madrid since 1992. I studied architecture at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and did my CELTA training at International House, Madrid. I have also trained both as a proofreader and as a copy editor.

I have tutored students from primary school through to university, successfully coaching many for selectividad and EvAU.

I have ample experience preparing students for other exams (Cambridge, IELTS, Aptis, Linguaskill, IGCSE, Escuela Oficial de Idiomas, and civil service exams).

I help students prepare applications, interviews, meetings and presentations, as well as increase their fluency through conversation classes.

I have coached singers and actors performing in English.

I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish —as well as fluent in French— and understand well the difficulties commonly encountered by Spanish students learning English, which I help them overcome.

I seek to make students feel at ease and able to express themselves in English.

Students welcome my ability to listen to them and tailor my classes to their needs. Schoolchildren enjoy the games I use to consolidate grammar and vocabulary; older students value my choice of materials and topics for discussion to get them talking.

Exam preparation is focused and aims to minimise stress and maximise results.

In all classes, I like to help students improve their grasp of grammar, expand their vocabulary and become familiar with English phonetics and intonation, as appropriate.

I teach both online and in face-to-face classes.
